Greetings from Paraguay!

God is doing great things!

Sometimes it is difficult to know what to include in our Praise and Prayer Update, because of all that is happening around us. For sure, we could write a book (or at least a pamphlet) if we went into the details of all that God is doing. For example, three weeks ago we met 13 year-old ‘A’. Her aunt had rescued her from an abusive situation with her step father. For 5-years she has suffered his sexual abuse (which started when she was 8), under the threat that he would kill her younger brothers and sisters. After prayer, the Word and lots of love, ‘A’ has changed from a dark hopeless figure, into a lovely, radiant young lady. She has chosen to walk in forgiveness, put the past behind her and to go with God!

There is a ‘second’ part to this wonderful testimony which will warm your heart also. Last week Bette made a call to check up on ‘A’, during her visit. An assistant to the District Attorney soon arrived also. Surprised to find ‘A’ so happy, the case worker listened to Bette, ‘A’, and the aunt as they explained about the love of God. Right there, the case worker began to weep, saying that her life was a mess, and that she had been considering taking her life the night before. Together ‘the trio’ led the case worker to Jesus and watched as the Holy Spirit transformed her face with a radiant smile. Before Bette could return to the office, she had received two cell phone messages from the case worker, thanking her for the gift of Salvation in Jesus!

Greetings today to all from Paraguay!
Our special May, 2010, mid-month Update/Prayer Request has to do with the purchase of two more lots here in Paraguay. These lots are necessary for future expansion of the church and will be used for parking. The reason that we are wanting to buy these lots now is to avoid the properties being convertedimage001 into a storage yard for junk iron and/or building materials.  These are the other offers that the owner has received.  However, he really want us to have the lots because of the many improvements we have already made in the neighborhood with the start of the construction of new church facilities.  Having the property converted to open storage areas would not be very conducive to the main entrance and operation of the church.  The owner has approached us and offered to sell us the two lots for $20,000 - he recently lowered the price for us from $22,500 (the fair market value of the lots). In fact, three weeks ago the owner brought to us the title and the keys to the properties, asking us to take down the 'For Sale' because they were tired of all the phone calls about the property.  We first contacted a few of our supporting churches to help us buy the two properties and to date have $6,500 of the $20,000 purchase price needed (thank you to those who have responded to the funding need). We need to confirm the purchase with the owner as soon as possible, he has been very patient and gracious with us, allowing us 'time' to raise the funds - closing would then take place as soon as the money is available. Please pray and agree with us for the supply of the remaining $13,500 needed for the lots. image003A SIDE NOTE: On Sunday, April 15, we were able to dedicate and present to God and the local church the finished bathroom complex, ready for use! After almost three years of the entire church using the one bathroom in the office (located approx. 100 yards from the patio where the services are held), it has been a great 'relief' to have bathrooms on the property. Many of you were involved in praying for the supply of funds for the project, some were actually involved in the construction process through their offerings. We first of all give thanks and all the Glory to God for the complex, secondly to you for your faithfulness to hold us up in prayer and support what God is doing in Paraguay and to the Paraguayan local church, approx. 50-60% of theconstruction funding came from here in Paraguay.   PTL!  Our desire is to continue on with the construction process: first, repairing and remodeling the current church office facilities; then constructing the new Main Sanctuary/Multi-use Facility.  To complete these projects will require an investment of approximately $15,000 a month over the next 8-12 months. Please pray and agree with us for the supply of the remaining funds needed for construction.Blessings and thank you in advance for your prayers -

Greetings from Paraguay!

Happy day, its spring and you have made it through another winter! We are sighing also, but because we have made it through another hot summer and are enjoying a cooler autumn. 01(You would think it was spring here with all of the flowering trees and plants. With the fall rains and the cooler temperatures, the plants are green and the flowers’ blooming… everything is lovely!) Hey, it doesn’t matter if it is spring or autumn, we all are sensing the new beginnings and renewed desire to surge ahead and accomplish what God has planned… and the best part is that we are doing it together, hand in hand!
